Every night, Peter visits the Darling family and listens to the stories told by the lady of the house. One night, the Darling see that Peter tries to escape and while he does, he loses his shadow. Peter returns to retrieve his shadow and wakes up the daughter of the house, Wendy Darling. Wendy helps Peter to join his shadow back to his body and tells him that he also knows many stories.

Peter invites Wendy to the Country of Never Again and wants her to be the mother of lost children. Wendy accepts and asks that her brothers Michael and John join as well.

All embark on a magical journey to the Land of Never Again and have many adventures along the way. Wendy almost dies and the lost children build a house in the trees for her to recover. After Wendy recovers, she assumes the role of mother.

After all her adventures and fun, Wendy decides that her place is at home with her mother and helps the lost children to return to London. However, Peter does not want Wendy to come back and tries to trick her by telling her that her mother no longer loves her. However, Peter understands that his mother must be very sad and in the end, he decides to let her go.
